Legend has it that Zagreb was named after a chance encounter between a girl and a Croatian governor. She was standing next to a well and he asked her for some water saying: “Mandušo, scoop it up!” (in Croatian: “Zagrabi!”). The well was called Manduševac and the city Zagreb. The city is Croatia’s business centre, the seat of Zagreb University and a city of culture, arts and entertainment. The Upper Town offers Baroque atmosphere and ancient sights. One of the important features of the Croatian capital are its numerous parks and promenades which are its green oasis and the city’s lungs. The Istrian Peninsula is a region where throughout history three civilizations came together – Roman, Slavic and Germanic. We’ll visit Pula, a fairytale-like city with a 3000-year-long history you simply must explore. Pula is home to one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres of the world – the Arena. The Hercules Gate, the Augustine Temple and more sights are worth visiting. We’ll also visit Rovinj and enjoy the 7 kilometres of wine roads. After the vineyards we’ll leave for Poreč, a place with many architectural and cultural sights, and with one of the most beautiful early Byzantine churches of Europe – the Euphrasian Basilica.
