ZAGREB AND SECRETS OF ISTRIAN CUISINE (4 DAYS/3 OVERNIGHTS)
We’ll learn the secrets of Istrian cuisine. Everyone is welcome, regardless of your culinary skills. We'll go to the market where we’ll buy all of the necessary ingredients for cooking. Then we’ll go to a family home in the vicinity of Pula. Over a glass of a welcome drink we’ll get familiar with the preparation of Istrian specialties in a traditional way. The owner will help us prepare food on the family hearth. While preparing the dish, we’ll try some local cured meat and cheese and taste several types of olive oils and learn how to combine them with food. In the end, we’ll taste the dish we’ve prepared! We’ll combine a coach ride and walking to explore all main cultural city sights. We’ll visit Kaptol (the medieval part of Zagreb), the Franciscan Monastery and the adjacent Church of St. Francis, which according to legend dates back to the 13th century, the times of St. Francis of Assisi. We’ll walk around the Dolac farmers’ market and the 18th-century Baroque Church of St. Mary. The tour ends in the heart of Zagreb, at Ban Josip Jelačić’s monument on the square bearing his name.
